About Me

Sophie Rogers UKCP RDMP MA BA

I qualified in 2013 from Canterbury Christ Church University with a Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy. I have a BA Honours in Fine Art degree from Edinburgh College of Art 2004.

I completed a Diploma in Clinical Supervision with SCPTI Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute in 2021.

Since I began my psychotherapy training in 2009 I have volunteered and worked in the charity and public sector, I have worked alongside groups and individuals from all walks of life, of all ages with varying cognitive and physical abilties.

I have been offering private Psychotherapy and Dance Movement Psychotherapy since 2018 both one to one and group.

Since 2021 I have been offering Clinical Supervision to Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Dance Movement Psychotherapists and Arts Therapists, including Drama, Art and Music Therapists, both one to one and group.

My employed experience includes:

  • Clinical Supervisor NHS Arts Therapies team.

  • Counsellor/Psychotherapist - Employee Assitance Programme Private company

  • Online Youth Counsellor - Private company

  • Primary Mental Health Worker - NHS and council

  • Abuse & Trauma Recovery Project Worker - Children’s charity

  • Dance Movement Psychotherapist - Dance Movement Psychotherapy centre

  • Resident Programme Worker - Therapeutic outdoor centre

In my free time, I enjoy growing vegetables, foraging, walking and spending time with family, friends and beloved dogs. I practice vipassana meditation.

I have dislexia which influences my way of being in the world. I understand that neurodiversity plays a big part in how people relate to their surroundings and relationships. This is perhaps why I came to Psychotherapy in a creative and embodied way. And why I am passionate about our natural world and how we relate with it.

For me psychotherapy is a lifelong journey and expereince. I continue to engage in my personal development and learning, which continues to inform my practice as a psychotherapist and way of being in the world.
